Community Clinic

Critical Care International has advised clients on the design, construction, equipment and staffing of community clinics at two mine sites in West Africa in the last year. In each case local healthcare professionals had very limited training and expertise in using the equipment and medications. Critical Care International put in place mentoring and education programmes to assist them in running the clinic as well as improving their diagnostic and patient management skills. In one case, the consultants leveraged relationships with The Biomolecular Laboratory in Bamako (LBMA), which resulted in a fully-equipped laboratory being installed with training courses provided on parasitological tests for local clinic staff. The clinic itself has become a focal point for local pride in the community and has resulted in significant and sustainable improvements in both morbidity and mortality.
